  • Dianna L. Whitt Neu

I love your picture of Chicago...and I don't know if you are aware but that is 'my' lake in the background..I don't blame you for not knowin' that, now many folks understand who's lake it really is....Bwahhaaaaa.. I use to think that when I was a kid, don't know where I got the nerve, but I literally thought it was my lake, when I got older in school imagine my shock when I learned how big it was and more shocking was the truth that I didn't own it...AT ALL!

Girl, we think so much alike. We are living in urgent times and have to stay focused. That was a good lesson Sunday!

There is a memorial service Sunday for Marlene's daughter at a Senior Center. I looked in my purse and I have lost the information. You can call Sharon's office and get the information. 262-242-3966. I think it is Sunday at 4 or 4:30 pm. I am not going to be able to go. I have a previous engagement. ttyltr.

Dear one, always remember that when rough waters come, I am here with a confidential non judgemental ear. I was thinking the other day that I am almost sixty years old. I used to think when I was young that older people (like I am now) didn't have temptations and struggles that All they had to do is serve Jah. Hah! I can see now that as long as we are in these sinful bodies there will always be something we have to watch out for. So let us keeping running that race together so that we both may win. You may have to drag me at times and I sometimes you, but at least we will both be moving in the right direction.

Hi Sweet Mama Edie, How Are You Doing? We Are Fine, Just Working And Maintaining. Me And Sararetha Are About To Take A Much Needed Trip To Gatlinburg, Tn. And The Great Smoky Mountains In A Couple Of Weeks, We Never Had A Honeymoon, So This Will Be It....LOL

I was ever so sure you had forgotten me my sister. Just enduring absorbing the meaning of faith much more the meaning of making Jehovah my Refuge. Test of times call for more than reading words from the pages of the Bible or publications. I see ever more clearly how we must without a doubt become ever more willing in patients. Move forward my Sister just keep moving forward Peace and Love because I know you will go away again just like that nice breeze that pass by on a hot summer day yet to my pleasure you are.Agape Love Edie2k2

Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, a SUV taxi appeared right before my eyes along with a couple saying to me, do you want to share this taxi. I thought to myself, heck yeah! We all got in the taxi and it was highway robbery. Twenty dollars a head. For six of us the cab driver made a quick $120.00. It was worth every penny to me.

I am in Chicago so much. I have never had anything like this happen to me. Never! The saying "when you feel like crying laugh instead," has a permanent place in my heart because that's how I made it through the night.

    Crazy Huh!

    Love Vee

Now comes the humorous part. I sat on a bus stop bench and just watched the people. After about an hour the women that had on stiletto heels started walking bow legged and pigeon toed. I could hear women nearby starting to sound like hustlers. One of them said "I'm going down there to work that corner for a cab" and another one said, "I don't know. You got red dress and mini skirt competition down there" After the second hour I started hearing women wailing and crying out for the taxi cabs that passed us that were already full. A little while later I looked at the ground and it looked like Macy's shoe department. All the women had come out of those skyscraper heels. Now we are into the third hour of no cabs. The women were getting desperate. They started demanding rides from the Police that were driving down the street. The women were telling them that it was their civic duty to help us. One of the women even said, "I just committed a horrible crime. Arrest me." It was a very hot humid night and my hair and clothes were soak and wet. All efforts to look good had faded into the night.

We came out of the concert and guess what? Not a cab in sight. I was still hopeful though. I asked someone directing traffic which way to go to get a cab and she pointed to a main street. Just then the flood gates opened and it seemed as if millions of people came out of The United Center. No matter how fast we walked we were overtaken by the crowds. It was about 10:30 pm and my hopes for getting a cab soon disintegrated. We got to the main street and there were no cabs left. It soon became apparent that most of the taxi cabs in Chicago went to the festival instead.

The next step was getting to the seats. We were led to our seats by a nice gentleman who ushered us into a row of seats that seemed quite inviting until we sat down. The seats were so close together we felt like sardines. To my left, in the direction of the stage, was a big guy. He was literally in my seat with me. When the concert started, he leaned forward and that was the end of my being able to see the concert. I asked him once or twice to sit back but he only complied for a few moments. I refused to be rude and sit forward and block the view of others. The concert sounded good, but that's about all I can say about it.

The last step was getting back to the hotel. Before the concert went into the last phase, I looked around and saw how many people were actually at the concert. I got a desperate feeling that we should leave right away. My friends didn't listen to me. They wanted to stay longer. We left a little before the concert was over, but not soon enough.

I hope you have a sense of humor. This one hit my funny bone, but not until I got home. I went to see Sade and John Legend last weekend in Chicago. We got from the hotel to the concert at The United Center Just fine. I knew there was a big festival in town so I asked the cab driver would we be able to get a cab back to the hotel after the concert. He said there will be so many cabs when you come out of the concert that you will be able to take your pick, young, old, African, Asian and so on.
  • Vee's Treasure Suite

Girl, the bad part about it was we had a chance to get on the bus and go to Michigan Ave. Everyone was scared to take the bus, but we could have got a cab on Michigan. Ernie was very apprehensive about the bus. All I could see when I saw the bus was me catching zzzzzzzzz's in the comfortable hotel bed. LOL! Girl, you know you be jamming. Some people were just born to jammmmmmm!
  • Vee's Treasure Suite

I know what you mean about riding the L now days. That is why I didn't say anything to Fat Boy at the concert. I choose my battles in the times we are living in and he looked like he was stark raving mad. I said to myself go ahead mister sit how ever you want. LOL.
  • Dianna L. Whitt Neu
