Did you see the pics I took when I was there?? I even got Marie!! I have to corral my urge to stay in there for like, a year. I would carve me out a lil hole in the back somewhere between the crates. I expressly named this site after that landmark/heavenly/treasurehouse of a place. Just thinking about them makes me get chillbumps!

You lived across the street...whoa x's infinity!!! I was looking for Elephant Walk for years--ever since I first heard in the gym of Jackson Park Day Camp which I attended in the early 60's. Every summer. I searched the internet and happened upon my beloved OOTP Records..they had it!!!! And the rest is history. Now they have 24/7 streaming radio---and I'm all over it like a cheap suit..Hmph! HA!!!!

Yes, it's a small world, indeed--and I'm eating up the stuff you add to it! Shoooot!!!! Chicago Rules!!!! RAAAAH!!! LOL!!!!! Why don't you all do a segment on them--they are a VALUABLE part of the African American Experience for shizzle!!!!!
Me too!!! That would be right on time!!! I wanted to do a blog on the good old time neighborhood record shops--remember? Where we could get our 45's and spindles and stuff. Remember Metro Music on 103rd St? I bought alot of music from there in the late 70's. *sigh* I started on my hunt for info and couldn't find any of the old stores. Beverly Records is still around I know..but that's all I found.

The last time I was there I was on a hunt for Marvin Gaye's remix and I went to a couple of record stores on ..*thinkin* I think right off of 87th and Stony? and one on Cottage Grove...I can't remember..but they came close to what I remember in my mind for neighborhood record stores.

Keep us posted nonetheless. I can't wait!
I have NEVER loved a record shop like I love OOTPR..never. And why did you tell me this!!!? I'm going to go and spend days...I will have grown a beard by the time I leave...whew!

I love them..and thanks for telling me this Sherry. It means alot to me ♥

Remembering Q

E.FM Radio Spotlight

Quincy Jones is thoroughly entwined in the musical background of my young adulthood. A genius of unique quality. I have been posting blogs and music throughout the years and decided to embark on the arduous but satisfying task of gathering some of it to remember the excellent legacy that he left.
