What's a hot pick??? I'm already laughin just thinking about it! I tried to make me a natural once and used a fork...a real fork for my pick............ha ha ha ha ha!!!! It was a hot mess!!!
Where are you Sole?? you ain't even welcomed your Mama back!!!! LOL
Every time I think about this Blowout Kit, I think about my two younger brothers. They were growing afro's but they had that tight, steel wool kind of nappy hair. My mom decided to buy the kit. It worked somewhat. They ended up looking like Don King on a good day, if there is such a thing...LOL...My mom tried cutting it to shape and they still looked a mess...So you know that I had a ball laughing at them...The next thing I know she gave me some money to take them to get a hair cut. Back then the Collegiate cut was the thing. My brothers got their hair cut right down to the skin. That was their first and last experience with the Blowout Kit...ROFLMBO!!!!

My so called "blow out kit" was a warm hot comb when I wanted my afro to be bigger...I wasn't going near the store bought one...LOL
That's funny! You mean they had the little army men with their fists balled up naps? ROFLMBO!!! I didn't have the right kinna hair for the natural..but I wanted to be like everybody else for a second--and so I washed my hair and rolled it up in a gazillion curls. Then I picked it out with a dinner fork...hot mess as I said above.

My ex made me ask for the semi-collegiate for the boys at the barber shop. So cute and neat. To this day thye call it the semack collegete..BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAA!!!!

ROFLMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
This group is funny. I never had an afro. I remember getting my hair straightened the old school way. My mom would wash my hair and then she would plat it so it could dry. When it dried she would get the royal crown hair grease and go to work on my head. I had really thick hair and after it was dry it was very nappy. I hated getting my hair done. LOL!!! Thank God for relaxers today.

Quincy Jones is thoroughly entwined in the musical background of my young adulthood. A genius of unique quality. I have been posting blogs and music throughout the years and decided to embark on the arduous but satisfying task of gathering some of it to remember the excellent legacy that he left.
