Johnny Davis...The Tragic Star Of Bandit Records

The tragic star of the early days of Bandit, he lead The Arrows until it was clear he was a standout performer. The rest of the group continued to back his recordings (“The Love I See Now” and “Boogedy Boogedy” were issued under both the names Johnny Davis and The Arrows). “You’ve Got To Crawl To Me” is Johnny’s signature performance, an amateur funk workout that displays Johnny’s full vocal range as it pulses along. Although a musical oddity, its unavoidably catchy.

His career was tragically silenced by an organized crime hit that was never solved. He was hit by a pipe and thrown off a 12 story building, leaving scarce evidence that he had ever existed at all.

Well, Brown's son didn't help by letting the stuff fly around in the alley and be swept away---but he had his issues I guess. It is very sad when a family member has such hatred for their parent that they would do something like that. Very sad indeed. I haven't even tried to find anything in awhile because I know you already have and if YOU can't find anything it's not there to be found---still carry on and don't give up. More than likely you will happen upon something by accident and it may lead to an Arrow Brown-Bandit Records Motherlode. Let's hope.

I had to work on the pic and make it a little larger, that voice sure doesn't match that face...LOL. They basically executed him, i wonder what he did to deserve that fate, it's killing me that i can't find out more about Arrow Records or find pics...LOL

Quincy Jones is thoroughly entwined in the musical background of my young adulthood. A genius of unique quality. I have been posting blogs and music throughout the years and decided to embark on the arduous but satisfying task of gathering some of it to remember the excellent legacy that he left.
