Be My Baby...Ahhhh words forever instilled in my
mind from a beautiful saturday night way back in 1977.

As i sat down and prepared to look at Sha Na Na.
I was excited because days earlier i had heard
the 1960's hit Be My Baby and was blown away
by the sound of Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes
(she was known as Veronica Bennett at that time)

Then the moment came and my 10 year old mind
was in awe of the beauty of Ronnie Spector, my
breath was taken away and i fell instantly in
love.

Ya'll know how it is when a child has a crush on
a celebrity and i thought nobody would ever
replace Jayne Kennedy in my heart, but Ronnie
had me hooked badly....LOL

I remember telling my Mama that someday i was
going to marry her and have 50 kids...Oh my
Goodness the mind of a child is amazing huh....LOL

Today 29 years later when i still think back to that
night i smile and laugh. It was a great time to be
10 and in love.

Although i have never seen Ronnie in person, thanks
to the Internet and YouTube i now have access to
countless videos by The Ronettes and it makes my
memories of that summer in 1977 that much sweeter.

Ex-girlfriend tells US court that the producer could be 'a demon' when drunk

A prosecution witness in Phil Spector's murder retrial claims the legendary producer once threatened fans with a gun after they mistook him for actor Dudley Moore.

Dorothy Melvin, who dated Spector for four years in the 1990s, says the incident happened after a group of fans approached him as he got out of a limousine at the notorious Manhattan hangout Elaine's.

Melvin said Spector was initially thrilled to be recognised, but that his mood changed when one of the group exclaimed, "I can't believe we just met Dudley Moore," reports the LA Times.

Estelle Bennett and Nedra Talley each married and, in 1968, Ronnie Bennett married Phil Spector and retired from performance for several years. In 1971, under Spector's direction, Ronnie recorded "Try Some, Buy Some" for the Beatles' Apple label. This was her last charting record, reaching # 77 in the spring of 1971.

In 1973, as she and Spector were about to divorce, she returned to performing at Richard Nader's "Rock and Roll Revival" show at Madison Square Garden. Her new version of The Ronettes at that time included Denise Edwards and Chip Fields, and they issued two singles on the Buddah label.

In 1988, the original Ronettes sued Spector for nonpayment of royalties. In 2001, a New York court announced a verdict in favor of the Ronettes, ordering Spector to pay nearly three million dollars in back royalties; however, the judgment was later overturned on appeal.
