These are my Homeboys. They had been playing around town for a few years, so everybody knew them. Then one day they were on the radio! Man, that was a big deal to us. lol
They had the original recording of "Little Darlin`" in 1957. Later that same year, The Diamonds, a group that specialized in covering Black artists songs, cause they knew they could get the airplay that the Black singers couldn`t, recorded their version of this song. Of course The Diamonds version became the hit. A few years later The Gladiolas changed their name to Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs and had a #1 Billboard
hit with "Stay". Maurice is still singing today. He has to be at least 70 by now. He attends the same church as my ex.

I saw that show too SoleMann. It was a nice gesture on the Diamonds part.

I remember looking at this PBS special a few years ago and The Diamonds were doing a medley of songs, then lead singer starting talking and acknowledged that The Gladiolas and Maurice Williams did the song first before inviting them to come to the stage and sing it with them.
