Ramsey Lewis trio "TheInCrowd"

Because I hope we're still good friends
I'm scribbling these few lines
In hopes that just for old times sake
You'll answer me something.

It's funny how the time flies
When one is past the tender years
And yet old memories seem to cling
To things I once held dear.

Tell me does that oak tree
Where we used to play and hide
Still show our initials
Encarved there side by side.

And how about old alum creek
Where I thought you how to swim?
Do kids still go there fishing
With those flimsy bamboo stems?

Does East High still play Central
Those bangup football games?
Or was it North High Polar Bears
We always had to tame?

And how about the Cameo over on the avenue
Where we used to spend our evenings
Watching a flick or two?

Do you still belong to Shiloh
And teach the junior class
And drink those real cold milkshakes
When tyler's drug we passed?

And how about the Regal
And the Bellman Waiters club
Where we use to meet the crowd
And chit chat with our dubs?

How about old Broad and High?
Is it still the heart of town?
Are Lazarus and the Union
And the Fashion still around?

I could go on forever
Asking about this and that
But I don't want to rile you
So I guess I'll play it pat.

Just one more thing in closing.
I'd like to know for sure
If I came back home tomorrow
Could you love me just once more?

Quincy Jones is thoroughly entwined in the musical background of my young adulthood. A genius of unique quality. I have been posting blogs and music throughout the years and decided to embark on the arduous but satisfying task of gathering some of it to remember the excellent legacy that he left.
